Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic are now being linked with Donny van de Beek of Manchester United, but Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest are also interested in the midfielder.

90min are reporting this morning that Celtic are among the clubs who are interested in signing Donny van de Beek from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace are the clubs in the Premier League who are looking at a potential deal for the £120,000-a-week (Spotrac) midfielder.

Sevilla, Nice, Inter Milan, AS Roma and AC Milan are also interested in the former Everton loanee, according to the report, which has claimed that Ajax and Feyenoord are eyeing him as well.

90min have added that “United would prefer a sale as they try to clear their squad of players who aren’t in the long-term plans for the first team, though a loan looks more likely as it stands”.

Could Celtic really sign Donny van de Beek from Manchester United?

In our opinion, Celtic are unlikely to be able to sign Donny van de Beek from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

Yes, Celtic are a big club who will play in the UEFA Champions League next season, but it is hard to see the Netherlands international not join the likes of Wolves, Milan or Sevilla ahead of the Hoops.

After all, the Premier League, Serie A and La Liga are much more prestigious domestic leagues than the Scottish Premiership.

And Van de Beek is still only 26 now.

So, he could feel that he could get back to the level of his Ajax days.

Moreover, it is hard to see Celtic pay Van de Beek’s weekly salary of £120,000 in full.

And why would Manchester United send a player out on loan and agree to pay his salary in parts?

Furthermore, it is also hard to envisage the Bhoys pay a good transfer fee to the Red Devils to get a permanent deal done.
