According to the Daily Record, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers wants to sign Timothy Castagne from Atalanta, but doing a deal seems complicated.

Castagne has become Celtic’s top target in January, with Rodgers wanting the full-back to improve his side’s defence.

Celtic are prepared to pay £6 million for the right-back, who has impressed in Serie A.

However, Atalanta are not currently interested in selling, which makes Celtic task of completing a deal a complicated one.

Rodgers is reportedly eager to change the Italian side’s mind, and still believes that a deal could be possible.

If Castagne is brought in at Celtic he would likely slot straight into their first-team.

Mikael Lustig has not had his most convincing season, and Castagne could be a real upgrade at Parkhead.
