Celtic are among the sides interested in Manchester City sensation Phil Foden, but the Premier League heavyweights are not keen to do a deal.

Foden is one of the brightest prospects currently trying to make the grade at the Etihad Stadium, and the Mirror reports that the Hoops have been joined in a long line by Premier League and Championship sides as they all try and lure the 17-year-old away during the coming window.

Therefore, it appears that the likes of Celtic will have to look elsewhere if they hope to boost their options in the middle of the park in January.
Brendan Rodgers may have perhaps been hoping that the relationship the two sides have built up over the two loan deals that have been agreed for Patrick Roberts in recent times may have helped their cause.

Foden is undoubtedly a talent, and would have surely been capable of making an impact in the Scottish Premiership had he signed, but perhaps missing out may not be the worst thing that could happen to Celtic.
The teenager’s future definitely looks to be at City right now, so perhaps Rodgers will take the snub as an opportunity to look at players who can provide a long-term answer for the Hoops as they look to keep progressing, especially on the continental scene.
