According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic are back in for Bristol City winger Niclas Eliasson ahead of the October transfer deadline.
It’s claimed Neil Lennon is desperate to add left-sided options before the deadline, and Eliasson is once again an option for the Bhoys.
Celtic’s first-choice target is Charlton Athletic talent Alfie Doughty, and they will go back for Eliasson is they can’t convince the Addicks to sell.
Celtic targeted Eliasson in January according to the Daily Record, and with less than a year left on his contract at Ashton Gate, a move may now be cheaper than it would have been in January.
The Bristol Post reported on Monday that Celtic head of recruitment Gary Penrice was at Ashton Gate to watch the Robins against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup last week – and it may well have been to watch Eliasson.
The Swede was making just his second start of the season in that game, and played as left-wing back – exactly the position Celtic are looking to strengthen.

Eliasson isn’t exactly a natural there given that he is more of a winger, but Celtic will see his creative stats – 12 assists last season – and believe that he can provide a real threat going forward.
What’s particularly interesting is that Eliasson spent time at Celtic as a trialist in 2013, and he told Expressen that it was ‘great’ at Celtic and he loved the passion for football in Glasgow.
Eliasson was just a teenager at the time, but Neil Lennon was in charge of Celtic and may well remember him, hence Celtic’s renewed interest.
