Newcastle United could lose both Sean Longstaff and Freddie Woodman to Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side.

According to the Chronicle, Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side want both Sean Longstaff and Freddie Woodman from Newcastle United.

Woodman and Longstaff are considered to be two of Newcastle’s brightest prospects, but they have failed to break into Rafael Benitez’s starting plans.

And Celtic are now believed to be keeping tabs on the pair, as the Scottish side eye up moves.

Celtic scouted both Longstaff and Woodman during Newcastle’s under-23 side’s last match.

If Celtic were to sign Longstaff and Woodman the duo could improve Rodgers’ options for the second half of the season.

Longstaff’s contract expires in 2019, meaning Celtic would only have to pay compensation to take him for the Magpies, if they did sign him on a pre-contract agreement in January.

Longstaff is a midfielder, who has shown a knack for scoring when out on loan.

Woodman, meanwhile, would reduce the average age of Celtic’s goalkeeping options and could turn out to be a long-term successor for Craig Gordon.
