Celtic are reportedly keen on Akhmat Grozny’s Milad Mohammadi.

According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic are once again interested in signing left back Milad Mohammadi – and could get him for free this time.
The Bhoys are looking at left backs this summer, and amid new links to Max Lowe, it’s believed that Iranian international Mohammadi is on the list of targets.
The 25-year-old defender is about to leave Akhmat Grozny in Russia on a free transfer, having rejected their attempts to extend his contract.
Mohammadi will now move on for free, and Celtic are believed to be interested once again having looked at him last summer, when he featured for Iran at the World Cup in Russia.
Mohammadi became a cult hero during the tournament after attempting a somersault throw-in, but he has also impressed as a quick, attack-minded left back who can also play on the right if needed.
It’s claimed that Mohammadi is being eyed up as a potential replacement for Kieran Tierney, but Neil Lennon may actually have other plans in mind.

Celtic are about to lose Emilio Izaguirre on a free transfer, and Mohammadi may actually fit the bill as a replacement for him rather than being Tierney’s successor.
It makes more sense for Celtic to replace an outgoing free agent with a free transfer of their own, with Bhoys fans unlikely to be impressed if they bank huge money for Tierney then spend nothing on a replacement.
Signing Mohammadi would still leave Celtic with the chance to spend money on a replacement for Tierney, whilst strengthening the left backs ranks in general, with Mohammadi having international experience and some potential to get even better, meaning this could be a smart plan by Lennon and co.
