French outlet Homme Du Match claim Marseille striker Bamba Dieng could join Celtic after he was exiled from first-team training by manager Igor Tudor – despite the attacker being a target for Leeds, Newcastle and West Ham.

Reports from L’Equipe last week state that 22-year-old Dieng, who has been branded the ‘new Sadio Mane‘, has been ushered out of training as tensions flared between players and new manager Tudor – who replaced Jorge Sampaoli.

The 11-time Senegal international moved to Marseille from Senegalese side Diambars in 2020. He has since gone on to make 42 senior appearances, scoring nine goals. A striker, but also a player that can operate from the flanks.

Reports last week state that Leeds, Newcastle, West Ham and other Premier League clubs are keen. A fee of £10million would tempt Marseille. Now, Homme Du Match saw he could end up at Celtic – with the Hoops showing interest.

Marseille striker Dieng could join Celtic

Dieng will surely be tempted by a move to Celtic, given the recent success of Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard. Dembele is now shining in Ligue 1 after his stint at Celtic, and Edouard left Ligue 1 for Celtic – now in England

However, the question is, would he start? Yes, he would cost a club-record £10million – just eclipsing Edouard’s arrival. But he would find himself in direct competition with Kyogo Furuhashi, Daizen Maeda and Giorgios Giakoumakis.

Dieng is a top player with enormous potential and of course, can play out wide. But he has only played 53 senior games for club and country. He should really only join Celtic if he has assurances he will be first choice.

But the lure is definitely there. The chance to win trophies, Dembele and Edouard using Celtic as a springboard to greater things, and the Champions League group stages. £10million is a decent price, a superb signing.
