Celtic appear to be on the verge of signing Vakoun Issouf Bayo.
According to The Scotsman, Celtic are waiting on a work permit for Dunajska Streda striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo ahead of a move to Parkhead.
The Bhoys have now tied up two signings this month, as having signed Oliver Burke from West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, Paris Saint-Germain’s Timothy Weah arrived on Monday.
Both players have come in on loan though, and fans have been waiting for Celtic to actually spend some money and land a player on a permanent basis.
The main contender is Dunajska Streda striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo, and The Scotsman claim that Celtic are now only waiting for a work permit to seal a deal.
Bayo, 21, will cost around £2million if this final hurdle can be cleared, though it’s unclear whether he will manage to seal a work permit.
Bayo has yet to play for the Ivory Coast at senior level, and Celtic may hope to receive one on grounds of him being a top young talent who can strengthen the Scottish game – just as they did with another Ivorian, Eboue Kouassi, in 2017.
The striker has hit 18 goals and seven assists in 23 games over in Slovakia this season, posting a red-hot record since joining from Tunisian side Etoile du Sahel.
With other clubs interested, Celtic would consider winning this race a major win, but they are left waiting to hear whether Bayo will have permission to play in Scotland.
