Celtic have had a bid rejected for Nigerian sensation Henry Onyekuru.

According to The Express, Belgian side Eupen want a deal worth at least £3million for their teenage sensation Henry Onyekuru after rejecting Celtic’s offer of just over £1million.

Onyekuru, 19, joined Eupen from the Aspire Academy in 2015, and helped the club win promotion to the Jupiler Pro League last season.

Now in the top flight, Nigerian attacker Onyekuru – who can play out wide or up front – has taken his opportunity, and is emerging as one of the top young talents in Belgian football after a superb season so far.

Onyekuru has hit 12 goals in 25 appearances this season, whilst he’s also chipped in with six assists as well having enjoyed a blistering first half of the season for Eupen.

Unsurprisingly, Onyekuru’s exploits have attracted major interest, with African Football reporting that the likes of Hoffenheim, Leipzig, CSKA Moscow and Fenerbahce are all keen on signing Onyekuru.

Now, The Express report that Celtic have had a bid of just over £1million rejected – and Eupen have told them to treble that bid, as they value Onyekuru at around £3million.

It remains to be seen whether Celtic accept those demands, with Brendan Rodgers keen to add another young talent to his ranks, but with Eupen reluctant to let Onyekuru go so close to the transfer deadline, the Bhoys may find themselves in a real battle for the attacker’s signature.
