The Aberdeen star is believed to be one of Brendan Rodgers’ primary transfer targets for Celtic this summer.
Aberdeen’s Jonny Hayes
The Hoops will have to up their offer for Dons star Jonny Hayes, after English Championship side Cardiff City submitted an offer of £1.2 million for the winger, according to reputable media outlet Press & Journal.
Brendan Rodgers is thought to be desperate to bring the 29-year-old to Parkhead this summer, as he looks to add more quality to his squad, and increase competition for places in the wide attacking department.
Aberdeen’s Jonny Hayes in action
Hayes enjoyed a superb season with Aberdeen, scoring nine goals in 33 Scottish Premiership outings for Derek McInnes’ side, and helping them finish second in the league table, albeit a distant 30 points behind eventual champions Celtic.
The Press & Journal claim that Rodgers is growing frustrated at the lack of any real progress in discussions over a move for the Dons star, and that he will now have to increase his original bid to land his man.

With Champions League football on offer though, Hayes would surely chose the Glasgow giants over a switch to a mid-table Championship side…should the Hoops come up with the funds required to prise him away from Pittodrie.
