Tottenham Hotspur are close to appointing Ange Postecoglou as their new manager – and he will cost much less than £9million.
Celtic are poised to receive much less than they did for Brendan Rodgers as Ange Postecoglou nears a move to Tottenham.
That is according to The Telegraph, who claim that Tottenham will make an official approach for Postecoglou in the coming days.
Celtic’s Scottish Cup final is now out of the way and Tottenham are ready to make their move.
The report claims that Celtic received around £9million for Brendan Rodgers and his staff when they left for Leicester City in 2019.
However, Postecoglou will allegedly cost much less with a deal described as being ‘significantly lower’ than the one for Rodgers.
Celtic don’t want to stand in Postecoglou’s way even though they will demand compensation for his exit.
There is an appreciation of the work Postecoglou has done over the last two years to get Celtic back on track.
Add in that Postecoglou is pushing 60 and this seems like his big chance to land a huge Premier League job.

Ange Postecoglou deserves Premier League chance
Postecgolou has taken the long way around to get to the Premier League.
This certainly isn’t a case of Frank Lampard or Steven Gerrard being dropped into a big job right off the bat.
Postecoglou has had to work his way up to this job, starting with the semi-professional scene in Australia.
Before becoming Celtic boss, Postecoglou had managed just once in Europe before – and that was with Greek third-tier side Panachailki.
Even after managing Australia at the 2014 World Cup, Postecoglou’s next club job was with Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan.
Postecoglou has taken some jobs that you might consider ‘unfashionable’ but he has worked incredibly hard to reach this point.
Now on the verge of a Premier League move after winning the treble in Scotland with Celtic, Postecoglou wants to seize this chance – and hopefully prove to be value for money for Tottenham.
