According to the Daily Mail, Brighton and Hove Albion are prepared to offer an £18million deal for Celtic striker Moussa Dembele, including a 10% sell-on clause.
The Seagulls endured another blank on Saturday afternoon as they drew 0-0 at home with Burnley, meaning it’s now just one goal in the last six Premier League games for Chris Hughton’s men.
Having missed out on a major striker addition over the summer, Brighton are expected to splash the cash on a new goalscorer in January, with one key target reportedly emerging.
The Daily Mail report that Brighton are set to launch an £18million bid for Celtic striker Moussa Dembele, including a 10% sell-on clause as they attempt to convince Celtic into selling their prized asset.
However, it’s added that Premier League rivals Everton could yet emerge as a serious rival for Dembele’s signature, with new manager Sam Allardyce desperate to sign a new striker in January after the Toffees failed to replace Romelu Lukaku over the summer.
Dembele, 21, has hit 40 goals in 66 games for Celtic since signing from Fulham in the summer of 2016, having found the net 32 times in his first campaign with the club last season.
The French Under-21 international has impressed leading the Celtic attack, and it’s no great surprise that Premier League clubs are now lining up to take him back to the Premier League in 2018.
Celtic may yet hold out for more than £18million though, and with Everton potentially making their own offer, a bidding way could yet be sparked in January.
