According to The Sun, Celtic will demand £9million from Leicester City or Newcastle United as they pursue manager Brendan Rdogers.

The Bhoys thumped Hibernian 4-2 on Saturday afternoon, and looking to be getting back to top form under Rodgers after an inauspicious summer and start to the season.

There have been rumours flying around Rodgers since the end of last season, with some touting him for the Arsenal job after winning a second straight treble with Celtic.

Since then though, Rodgers has appeared frustrated at Celtic, and he was linked with Aston Villa earlier this month as some think he will consider any offer at this stage.

A move to Villa always seemed unlikely though, and The Sun now claim there is new interest, as Leicester City and Newcastle United are keen to lure Rodgers back to the Premier League.

However, it’s noted that Celtic would demand a huge £9million in compensation, which could just scare off the Foxes and Magpies – even though The Sun claimed earlier this month it would be around £2.5million to prise Rodgers away.

It’s therefore a little unclear just what Celtic would demand for Rodgers, but if this new report is true, then a team like Leicester may just consider a free agent like Leonardo Jardim instead.

Leicester boss Claude Puel is under pressure to put together a consistent run of results, whilst Newcastle may be preparing for life after Rafael Benitez given that his contract expires next summer.
