Celtic target Bright Osayi-Samuel is on the verge of signing a new contract with Queens Park Rangers after Crystal Palace decided against making a bid for the winger, according to West London Sport (WSL).

Eberechi Eze might have made the short journey from Loftus Road to Selhurst Park but, despite heavy speculation, it seems the playmaker’s former QPR teammate won’t be joining him in Roy Hodgson’s squad.

WSL reports Crystal Palace were considering matching the £4.7 million offer Osayi-Samuel received from Belgian champions Club Brugge earlier in the window.

But the Eagles eventually turned their back on one of the Championship’s most exciting talents – perhaps realising Wilfried Zaha seems set to spend one more season in red and blue.

Celtic were interested too.

The Scottish Sun, however, claimed last month the Hoops weren’t exactly jumping at the chance to pay the £5 million fee QPR were looking for.

Celtic were said to be planning to sign Osayi-Samuel on a pre-contract agreement next January instead, with his contract due to expire in 2021.

All that will change, of course, if the former Blackpool flyer decides to put pen to paper on a new deal at Loftus Road. WSL believes it’s only a matter of time before Osayi-Samuel commits his immediate future to Queens Park Rangers.

With Chris Willock and Albert Adomah expected to follow Macauley Bonne through the door and Osayi-Samuel set to stay, QPR may be emerging as dark horses for promotion.
