According to Devon Live, Charlton Athletic’s bid for Celtic target Joel Randall was worth just £300,000 – and Exeter City rejected it.
Addicks boss Lee Bowyer has confirmed that two bids have gone in for Randall, but Exeter are standing firm and pricing them out of a move.
The Daily Mail add that Exeter actually want around £1million, more than three times what Charlton were willing to pay.
That report notes that Celtic and Swansea City are also keen on Randall, and Charlton’s attempts to swoop in have ultimately failed.
Randall, 21, has been simply outstanding this season, bagging eight goals and five assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.
Primarily a left-sided midfielder who can also play at left back, Charlton seemingly saw Randall as a player who could replace Alfie Doughty – another player linked with Celtic.
Charlton’s bid and the alleged asking price becoming public knowledge may just spark Celtic into life, with Neil Lennon and co needing a left-sided player.
Randall would be making a huge step up from League Two to Celtic, but with Charlton out of the race, the Bhoys could pounce and give him a dream move to Parkhead.
