According to The Telegraph, Celtic are viewing Wolfsberger striker Shon Weissman as a potential replacement for Odsonne Edouard this summer.

It’s claimed that Celtic are ‘determined’ to keep Edouard, but have started looking for possible replacements in case he does leave the club given that Arsenal are keen.

The report notes that Weissman is now ‘one of their priorities’ should Edouard leave. The Israeli appears to be near the top of Celtic’s wish list.

Weissman, 24, has been in sensational form this season. He has smashed 29 goals in 30 games, whilst also picking up four assists.

The striker joined Wolfsberger from Maccabi Haifa last summer, and now finds himself a wanted man ahead of the summer transfer window.

90Min claimed earlier this season that Chelsea, Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United were all keeping tabs on Weissman.

Celtic are now seemingly hoping to land Weissman, continuing their Israeli connection under Neil Lennon’s reign.

In his first spell at the club, Celtic signed Israeli stars Rami Gershon, Beram Kayal and Nir Bitton as well as landing Efe Ambrose from FC Ashdod.

Lennon then returned, and Celtic explored the Israeli market again. They signed Hatem Abd Elhamed from Haopel Be’er Sheva, and then midfielder Ismaila Soro from Bnei Yehuda.

Israeli agent Dudu Dahan is close to Lennon, and he has helped players move to Parkhead despite not representing them. It would be little surprise to see him involved in a move for Weissman either.
