Celtic are on the hunt for a new central defender in the summer transfer window, and the Hoops have reportedly identified Christopher Jullien.

Celtic’s interest

According to The Daily Record, Celtic are interested in Jullien from Toulouse in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that the Hoops were initially asked to pay £8 million as transfer fee for the 26-year-old, but that fee could go up with Celta de Vigo in Spain interested in him.

Intriguing transfer

Former Celtic midfielder and manager David Hay seems to find the Hoops’ reported interest in Jullien “intriguing”.

Hay wrote in The Glasgow Evening Times: “As well as the David Turnbull bid, the interest in Christopher Jullien is intriguing.

“He certainly has the physical presence, and the French market is one that Celtic have exploited well in the past.”

Missing out

Jullien is a very good defender, and arriving from Ligue 1, the Frenchman would not find it tough in the Scottish Premiership.

However, it seems that the Hoops may not be able to secure the services of the 26-year-old in the summer transfer window.

According to Les Violets, Jullien is waiting for offers from England and Spain, and it is “unimaginable” at the moment that he will complete a move to Celtic.
