According to Get French Football News, both Barcelona and Real Madrid scouted Celtic striker Moussa Dembele during the 5-1 win over Rangers on Saturday.

Dembele, 20, joined Celtic back in June after his Fulham contract expired, and although the Bhoys paid a compensation fee given the Frenchman’s age, it seemed like a bargain having hit 17 goals in all competitions last season.

The youngster has largely opened the season as Leigh Griffiths’ backup, but the Scot’s recent injury has presented Dembele with a huge chance to shine in Brendan Rodgers’ starting line-up.

It’s a chance Dembele took, as he smashed a historic hat-trick in the Old Firm derby against Rangers on Saturday, helping Celtic on their way to a 5-1 victory at Celtic Park.

Dembele’s night against Barcelona on Tuesday was a little tougher though, as he missed a penalty at the Camp Nou when Celtic were losing just 1-0 – and after his penalty was saved, Celtic went on to lose 7-0.

Still though, his potential continues to attract interest even after his summer move to Glasgow, as Get French Football News report that scouts from both Barcelona and Real Madrid went to watch him play against Rangers.

Barcelona have the best attack in the world in Neymar, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi, but still chose to add another striker this summer as they landed Valencia’s Paco Alcacer, whilst Real Madrid brought Alvaro Morata back to the club from Juventus to compete with Karim Benzema.

Given Dembele’s age and his limited experience at the top level, Barcelona and Real Madrid may simply be keeping an eye on his development with a view to a future move, with Celtic unlikely to let him leave inside the next year.

Do you think Dembele could be good enough for Barcelona or Real Madrid one day?
