Celtic have suffered a huge injury blow, according to the Daily Record, as Hoops playmaker Tom Rogic will not be given the game time he needs to overcome an injury with Celtic’s development side.

The 25-year-old had a chance of facing Zenit St. Petersburg in the Europa League on Thursday night, if he could prove his fitness by turning out for Celtic’s second string on Monday night against Motherwell at Cappielow.

However, the Australian will not be given the chance to show he has overcome the knee injury which has kept him sidelined for two months, as the development squad’s fixture has been called off due to snow.

Brendan Rodgers now has a huge decision to make regarding Rogic, as the playmaker has not featured for more than two months despite returning to the bench for Saturday’s Scottish Cup win over Partick Thistle.

He almost came on to the field of play on Saturday, only for Connor Salmon to give Partick hope which in turn saw Rodgers introduce Kouassi Eboue – a more defensive player.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers arrives at the stadium prior to the Scottish Premier League match between Celtic and Ranger at Celtic Park on December 30, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rogic could remain on the sidelines, with Paddy Roberts, Jonny Hayes, Stuart Armstrong, Marvin Compper, Dedryck Boyata, Leigh Griffiths, Craig Gordon and Anthony Ralston all injured.

It now remains to be seen if Rogic will feature against Zenit, with the likelihood being that Rodgers will not risk him in a match of such intensity in what will be his first match since December 5.
