Celtic could be without James Forrest for their clash with Glasgow Rangers this weekend.

A report in the Daily Record has suggested that James Forrest is facing a race against time in his battle to be fit for Celtic’s Old Firm clash with Rangers this weekend.

The Record reports that Forrest underwent a scan after sustaining a knock in the victory over Hamilton at the end of last month, and subsequently sat out on the sidelines for the following two games.

And the Record suggests that the 25-year-old is now a doubt for the Scottish Premiership clash with their bitter rivals, which would surely be a blow to Brendan Rodgers.

Forrest has enjoyed his best campaign for several years this term, having contributed five goals and four assists in the top flight to help the Hoops move to within touching distance of the title.

And although Celtic have a 33 point lead over the Gers in the table, it would hardly be a surprise if the Ibrox side put in a much better display than they put in on their last visit to Parkhead, where they were dispatched 5-1, as they will have no doubt that only a perfect performance should be enough to deny the Bhoys extending that lead further.

So while Celtic have a cluster of wingers capable of making a game-changing impact, having Forrest also available will surely boost their chances of picking up their 27th league win of the campaign.
