Celtic remain in the hunt for Derby’s Max Lowe after selling Kieran Tierney.
According to the Daily Record, Celtic still have Derby County left back Max Lowe on their wish list after selling Kieran Tierney to Arsenal.
Tierney’s summer-long transfer saga is over, as he has joined Arsenal in a big-money move on deadline day in England, bringing in huge cash for Celtic.
That money must now be spent on a replacement, and boss Neil Lennon is looking to make a signing this month, with Kilmarock’s Greg Taylor wanted.
It’s added that Celtic are still in the market for Derby’s Lowe, who spent last season in Scottish football with Aberdeen, impressing for the Dons.
Celtic were first linked back in June, as The Express claimed that the Bhoys were rivaling Rangers for his signature, with neither side firming up their interest as yet.
It’s noted that Celtic want a left back with defensive ability, to balance out Boli Bolingoli’s attacking prowess and defensive deficiencies, but some would be worried about Lowe.
The 22-year-old was great going forward and decent defensively for Aberdeen, but when tasked against better opposition, Lowe was caught out; many Derby fans will remember how Leeds United’s Jack Clarke ripped him apart in January.
Lowe would be needed in European football, and whilst he’s a little more solid than Bolingoli, he isn’t exactly the defensive left back that Lennon wants, whereas Taylor very much is, and with Lowe allegedly more expensive, the Killie man may be the better option.
