The 20-year-old star was agonisingly close to joining Celtic this past summer.

Celtic fans could be forgiven for forgetting all about the David Turnbull saga.

It seems like a long time ago but, really, it was only in June when the 20-year-old midfielder underwent a medical ahead of a £3.25 million switch to Parkhead, only for it to reveal a lingering knee issue.

That very injury is the reason why Turnbull hasn’t kicked a ball for Motherwell this season, and won’t until 2020.

But it looks like Celtic remain keen nonetheless.

According to The Scottish Sun, Hoops boss Neil Lennon will revive his interest in the goalscoring midfielder as soon as Turnbull is fighting fit.

The Scot, who bagged 15 Premiership goals for the Fir Park side last season, was understandably devastated over the botched move to Glasgow.

But if this is true, and Celtic still want him, then that’ll keep the fire burning inside him at a time when ordinarily players can struggle to stay motivated.

The same publication reported at the time that the Bhoys would still pay the previously-agreed fee – a club-record for Motherwell – if interest was renewed.
