Celtic are not giving up on signing Mitchel Bakker from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Record.

It has been reported that Celtic manager Neil Lennon wants to sign the 20-year-old Dutch left-back from French giants PSG this summer.

Although an initial loan bid for the youngster has been turned down, the Glasgow giants are still in the hunt for the 20-year-old, according to the report.

Need for a left-back

Greg Taylor is the only senior specialist left-back in the current Celtic team, with Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo out of the squad after breaking quarantine rules.

It remains to be seen if Belgian left-back Bolingoli-Mbombo is drafted back into the team, but as of now, the Hoops have just Taylor to call upon.

That is a huge risk, and it is clear that Celtic need to sign a left-back who can compete with Taylor.

Good signing for Celtic?

Bakker is only 20 years of age and does not have much experience of first-team football.

However, PSG would not have signed the Dutch youngster in the summer of 2019 if they did not think that he is talented.

A season on loan at Celtic would help in the progress and development of Bakker.
