Celtic reportedly want to sign the Kenyan midfielder.
Celtic fans are excited about the prospect of re-signing Victor Wanyama on loan.
The Kenya international seems to have little future at Tottenham Hotspur and came close to joining Club Brugge last month, but the Hoops have been credited with an interest [The Daily Record] in the midfielder they sold in 2013.
But The Record claims that Celtic would have to pay at least half of Wanyama’s £65,000-a-week salary.
The report adds that it would be a ‘game-changing acquisition’ by the Bhoys if Neil Lennon made a loan signing the club’s highest-paid player.
The Record [live text coverage of deadline day, 10:29] also claimed, however, that that ‘isn’t how Celtic usually operate’.
Peter Lawwell, the club’s chief executive, saved £24,000-a-week on the wage bill when Mikael Lustig was released earlier this summer [The Daily Star].
Celtic also picked up a major windfall in the £25 million deal which saw Kieran Tierney join Arsenal last month.
Wanyama had an excellent two-year stint at Parkhead, before securing a £12.5 million move to Southampton.
