According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic will be bringing in just £800,000 for defender Hatem Abd Elhamed as he prepares to leave the club.
It’s claimed that Elhamed is set to re-join Hapoel Be’er Sheva this week as he prepares to return to Israel in a matter of days.
Elhamed has been homesick for some time now, having been away from his family due to the global pandemic.
Celtic have now agreed a deal to sell Elhamed back to Be’er Sheva, but they’re getting much less than the fee they paid for him in 2019.
The Bhoys spent £1.6million to lure Elhamed over to Glasgow, but are now selling him for just £800,000 as Celtic prepare to lose half of their money on the defender.
On the one hand, letting Elhamed return home is the right thing to do, and maybe reducing his valuation to do it should be commended.
On the other, this now means that Celtic will have lost two right backs in a matter of weeks having sold Jeremie Frimpong to Bayer Leverkusen, with the Bhoys now a little short in that area.
Selling Elhamed for a major loss doesn’t look great either, and Celtic will now find themselves in the market for a couple of right backs in the summer given that Jonjoe Kenny is only on loan.
