Rodgers recently spoke of the improvement that Armstrong has made since he took charge at Parkhead.
The former Liverpool boss initially felt that Armstrong was guilty of giving away possession too cheaply, and had some doubts over his quality, but he has been one of Celtic’s top performers in recent weeks.
The 24-year-old has netted five goals in his last 10 appearances from midfield, and Rodgers now believes Armstrong has an important role to play at Celtic.
The Northern Irish manager wants the ex-Dundee United midfielder to be part of his spine at Celtic for the years to come.
Rodgers reportedly does believe that Armstrong has enough quality to play in the Premier League, but he is determined not to lose the Scottish international.
The Glasgow Evening Times suggest that Armstrong is open to accepting a new contract at Celtic, as he is very happy with the Bhoys at this moment in time.
