Celtic look set to snap up Norwegian talent Odin Thiago Holm having agreed a deal to sign the Valerenga ace.

Valerenga have agreed to sell Odin Thiago Holm to Celtic with a medical expected once he is back from holiday.

That is according to Norwegian broadcaster TV2, who claim that Celtic and Valerenga have agreed on a deal for Holm.

It’s stated that the total package is worth around NOK 35 million, which works out to around £2.5million.

Valerenga have also secured a 15% sell-on clause, though it’s unclear whether that will be on a total fee or just on profit.

Holm is currently on holiday but a medical with Celtic is expected as soon as he returns.

Holm must also agree personal terms with Celtic but the report claims ‘no problems are expected’.

Celtic don’t have a manager right now but are pressing ahead with a deal for Holm anyway, potentially making him their first signing since Ange Postecoglou’s exit last week.

Celtic could land a gem in Odin Thiago Holm

Holm has long been touted as one of the top talents in Norway.

Back in his early days, Holm had trials with Liverpool and Danish side Midtjylland but chose to develop with Ranheim instead.

Even Manchester United and Inter Milan were keen but they couldn’t tempt Holm away from Norway.

Holm did end up leaving in the end, completing a move to Valerenga in 2019.

The 20-year-old has now made 75 appearances for Valerenga, bagging six goals and four assists.

Midfielder Holm has been described as ‘exciting’ by former Celtic man Harald Brattbakk, who also struck a comparison to Martin Odegaard.

If Holm gets anywhere near Odegaard’s level, Celtic have landed themselves an absolute bargain and fans should be excited to see how the playmaker develops in Scotland.
