According to The Daily Record, Celtic scouted Kilmarnock defender Greg Taylor at the weekend.

Taylor was in action for Kilmarnock against Hamilton Academical at Rugby Park in the second round of the Scottish League Cup on Saturday.

The 21-year-old left-back started the match and played for 120 minutes, as the home team won 1-0 after extra time.

According to The Daily Record, Celtic scoured the youngster during the match, as the Glasgow giants are interested in securing the services of the Scotland international in the summer transfer window.

Dale Carrick of Livingston is challenged by Greg Taylor of Kilmarnock during the pre season friendly between Kilmarnock and Livingston at Rugby Park on July 8, 2017 in Kilmarnock, Scotland.

Good signing for Celtic?

Taylor, who can also operate as a midfielder, is a very good left-back, and the Scotland international will be a smart signing for Celtic, not just for now, but in the long term as well.

With Kieran Tierney having left for Arsenal in the summer transfer window, Celtic do need a suitable replacement, with 24-year-old Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo not looking particular great in the opening weeks of the season.
