21-year-old Serbian international goalkeeper Filip Manojlovic could be the next highly-rated youngster to make the move to Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic.

Not content with being one game away from a historic domestic treble, it appears that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is already laying the foundations to maintain the club’s hegemony next season.

According to the Daily Mail, 5ft 5ins playmaker Srden Plavsic has piqued Celtic’s interest with some fine performances for Red Star Belgrade in his native Serbia. However, the newspaper adds that the 21-year-old may not have been the only reason for scout David Moss’ Eastern European sojourn.

Talented young shot-stopper Filip Manojlovic also appears to be on the club’s radar with Moss reportedly watching him in action during the Belgrade derby earlier this month.

The 21-year-old is one of the most highly-rated young goalkeepers on the continent and was rewarded for his excellent displays with Red Star by earning a debut international cap for Serbia against the USA in January.

Rising star

Manojlovic only broke into the first-team this season so Celtic would clearly be buying potential rather than proven talent. However, with Rodgers making clear that he wants to scour foreign markets for under-the-radar diamonds, Manojlovic fits the bill.

As it stands, the Scottish champions already have four senior goalkeepers on their books. However, 36-year-old Dorus De Vries has suffered an injury stricken debut season and has not made an appearance since September.

Furthermore, forgotten man Logan Bailly (below) recently announced his intention to return to his native Belgium, preferably to former youth side Standard Liege, after failing to play a single minute under Rodgers, the Daily Record reports.

Therefore, Manojlovic could offer a youthful back-up to first-choice Craig Gordon next season.
