Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers are going head-to-head for St Mirren winger Lewis Morgan.

Considering that Lewis Morgan has eight goals in 13 games in all competitions this season, two away from matching his tally from 2016/17 with 33 games to spare, it is no surprise that the St Mirren winger is commanding so much interest.
Yet, it’s Rangers’ Old Firm rivals Celtic that appear to be ramping up their pursuit of 21-year-old Morgan ahead of the January transfer window. The Scottish Sun reports that Celtic scout Tosh McKinley has watched Morgan in action personally over the last couple of weeks and has raved about the youngster’s talents to recruitment chief Lee Congerton.

And the report adds that Celtic will scout the winger once again as Scotland’s Under-21s take on England in a crucial qualifying clash for Euro 2019 on Thursday night.
There’s no doubting Morgan’s status as one of Scotland’s most talented young players but there remains a question whether the league champions even need him in the first place.

Morgan is a natural left-winger but will have to compete with Scott Sinclair for a place in the starting XI while Jonny Hayes, another wideman recruited in the summer from Aberdeen, has found that this is easier said than done.
If Celtic do manage to get the deal over the line, however, it won’t go down well with Morgan’s former club Rangers.
