A report in The Scottish Sun has claimed that Celtic are prepared to let Emilio Izaguirre go this summer, and talk of them wanting as much as £1m for the defender is not correct.

The Scottish Sun adds that the Hoops are willing to let the long-serving full-back move on. And while it had previously been thought that they wanted £1m for him, the fact that he is now entering the final year of his contract means that they are likely to accept a lower offer, The Scottish Sun claims.
Though Kieran Tierney’s emergence makes it hardly surprising that Izaguirre is keen on a move, it is perhaps slightly more difficult to understand the Bhoys’ point of view when it comes to letting him go.

Tierney has made the left-back spot his own in recent times, but the 30-year-old brings a wealth of experience which will surely help the Scotland international become a better player while also ensuring that the squad depth is strong in that area, which is something they arguably need following the departure of Charlie Mulgrew (via The Scottish Sun), who was also capable of filling in in that position.
But perhaps the club’s stance comes from a desire to help a player who has been loyal since joining in 2010 by leaving the path clear for him to leave rather than making it difficult and keeping him around to predominantly sit on the bench for the final year of his deal.
