Celtic are reportedly set to snap up defender Manny Perez.
According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic have decided to sign trialist Manny Perez in January after he impressed manager Brendan Rodgers.
The Bhoys beat Motherwell 3-0 on Wednesday night to return to the top of the Scottish Premiership table, recovering well from Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at Hibernian.
Anthony Ralston grabbed the opening goal of the game last night, as the right stepped up to impress – but another young right back appears to be heading to Parkhead.
American talent Perez joined up with Celtic on trial last week and played in a behind-closed-doors game in order to let Rodgers see him in action.
Now, The Scottish Sun claim that Perez will be signing a deal with Celtic and will join on January 1st, with Rodgers suitably impressed with the youngster.
Perez, 19, is currently in the US collegiate system with North Carolina State, and has picked up a cap for the United States Under-20’s having shown real potential.
Perez is now expected to join Celtic and become their first January signing, with Rodgers no doubt hoping to develop him as a long-term successor to Mikael Lustig and Cristian Gamboa.
