According to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, Celtic are expected to hold talks with AC Milan over a deal to sign Diego Laxalt permanently.
It’s claimed that negotiations will start ‘soon’, most likely in December when Celtic travel to take on Milan in the Europa League.
Celtic are claimed to be ‘more convinced’ to try and sign Laxalt permanently having impressed at Parkhead, whilst Milan seem willing to let him go.
The report adds that Milan remain interested in signing Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer, meaning the Norwegian could end up heading to the San Siro.
Milan wanted Ajer over the summer, and given that they’re desperate to sign a new centre back, an interesting deal could materialise.
Milan could feasibly offer cash plus Laxalt to get a deal done for Ajer, bringing the price down for them whilst Celtic take Laxalt on a permanent basis.
Laxalt, 27, has mostly played as a left back for Celtic, and bagged his first goal for the club with a dramatic equaliser in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Hibernian.
The loanee has been praised as ‘fantastic’ and ‘outstanding’ by boss Lennon, so reports of a possible permanent move are no great shock – but keep an aye on that Ajer situation.
