According to Sports World Ghana, Celtic have made contact about a deal for Newcastle United winger Christian Atsu.

It’s claimed that Celtic officials have asked about Atsu’s availability as they seek to bring the Ghanaian ace to Scotland.

Atsu has one year left on his Newcastle contract, meaning the Magpies may well be willing to part company with him this summer.

The 28-year-old started just six Premier League games last season, and played just six minutes of action for Newcastle following the end of the January transfer window.

That’s notable because Celtic tried to sign Atsu on deadline day in January, as reported by Sky Sports at the time.

Atsu rejected the move in order to try and fight for his place at Newcastle, but that didn’t exactly go well for him.

Celtic are now allegedly back in for Atsu, with Neil Lennon seemingly looking to add more pace to his side after a patchy start to the season.

Newcastle likely won’t put up too much of a fight to keep Atsu at this point, and he could provide Celtic with another dangerous winger alongside Mohamed Elyounoussi and James Forrest.
