Celtic are interested in signing Nantes striker Jean-Kevin Augustin as they plot new attacking additions before the end of the transfer window.
That’s according to Homme du Match over in France, who claim that Celtic want to ‘relaunch’ Augustin’s career after a tough couple of years.
The 24-year-old showed promise at Paris Saint-Germain before smashing 20 goals in 67 games for RB Leipzig, suggesting that he was on a path to stardom.
It has just been bad move after bad move ever since then.
A loan spell to Monaco saw him score just one goal in 13 games. He then headed to Leeds, where he played just three times and the Whites attempted to wriggle out of an obligatory purchase clause.
Leeds and Leipzig then relinquished claims to Augustin’s registration, becoming a free agent as he joined Nantes on a two-year deal.

Augustin has managed just three substitute appearances and no starts for Nantes, and became victim to the global pandemic with long-lasting symptoms.
Augustin’s record in the last two years is now one goal in just 19 games, with the Frenchman’s career in something of a tailspin.
Celtic’s alleged interest seems surprising for that very reason, but Augustin was once tipped for stardom by Lionel Messi – and maybe the Bhoys think they can get the best out of him in the same way they did with Augustin’s compatriots and fellow former Paris Saint-Germain talents Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard.
