Celtic are now looking towards Leicester City defender Daniel Amartey following Brendan Rodgers’ return as manager.
New Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers could reunite with one of his former Leicester City players with Daniel Amartey wanted.
That is according to a report from TEAMtalk, who claim that Amartey is under ‘strong consideration’ for a move to Parkhead.
Leicester have already confirmed that Amartey is leaving the club this summer with his contract coming to an end.
The 28-year-old will be desperate to find a new club soon and his versatility may be appealing to Celtic.
Amartey has played as a centre back, right back and even in midfield since joining Leicester from Copenhagen back in 2016.
A Ghanaian international with 52 cpas to his name, Amartey has valuable experience that Celtic may want to add.
It’s still hard to imagine that Rodgers is already focusing on transfers though.
The Northern Irishman only had his Celtic return confirmed on Monday and he will be working to evaluate his squad.
Amartey may be in the back of Rodgers’ mind but we can’t imagine that a move to Celtic is close at all.

How did Daniel Amartey fare under Brendan Rodgers?
A move to Celtic would of course mean a reunion with Rodgers for Amartey.
The pair worked together for four yeas at Leicester and could end up joining forces at Parkhead once again.
Amartey played 80 games under Rodgers at Leicester, more games than he has ever played under any other manager.

Amartey bagged two goals in that time, operating as something of a utility man under the new Celtic boss.
There were ups and downs for Amartey as he battled back from major injury problems and attempted to nail down a regular spot.
Rodgers was very impressed at the start of this past season, calling Amartey ‘absolutely brilliant’ having featured prominently as a centre back.
That just goes to show how highly Rodgers rates Amartey, which may just open the door for a Celtic reunion.
