Celtic are set to sell striker Patryk Klimala to New York Red Bulls, according to the Daily Record.
It’s claimed that Klimala is close to leaving Parkhead after the Major League Soccer side offered a ‘lucrative’ bid.
Celtic paid £3.5million to sign Klimala from Jagiellonia Bialystok in January 2020, and they are now expected to recoup that outlay.
The report notes that Klimala bulked up over lockdown in the hope of forcing his way into the Celtic side, but it just never happened for him.
The 22-year-old only managed three goals in 27 games for Celtic, failing to live up to the potential he was showing in his native Poland.
Neil Lennon oversaw the signing of Klimala, and then branded him ‘a real raw talent’, tipping him for a bright future at Parkhead.
However, Lennon just couldn’t find a place for Klimala in his side, and preferred Odsonne Edouard, Leigh Griffiths and Albian Ajeti throughout.
