Celtic may not have a manager but are now pressing ahead with a potential deal for Valerenga wonderkid Odin Thiago Holm.
Celtic are in talks to sign Odin Thiago Holm with the Valerenga talent being lined up for a move to Glasgow.
That is according to a report from Norwegian newspaper Nettavisen, who claim that Celtic have already made a bid for Holm.
It’s stated that talks are ongoing and as long as there are no problems, Holm could head to Glasgow soon.
FC Copenhagen offered NOK 30 million in January – around £2.2million – but Holm wanted to stay with Valerenga.
The expectation is that Celtic will have to pay a similar amount but Valerenga may want a ‘large’ sell-on clause in the deal.
Holm is described as being ‘more than ready’ to leave Valerenga now, despite turning down that Copenhagen move.
Maybe Celtic appeal to Holm more, or maybe Valerenga’s dreadful form – 3 wins and six defeats in 10 games – means he is now ready to go.
Who is Celtic target Odin Thiago Holm?
Holm, 20, was a highly-rated talent in the ranks of Norwegian club Ranheim.
Holm was in high demand as a youngster and admitted that he had trials with Midtjylland and Liverpool.
The playmaker even added that Inter Milan and Manchester United wanted to sign him but he rejected both of them.
Valerenga convinced Holm to move on in 2019, with a route to first-team football seemingly very important.
The 20-year-old has featured in a number of midfield roles, from playing as number 10 to sitting in front of the back four.
Holm has played 75 times for Valerenga, notching six goals and four assists.
Holm’s idol is Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara, so much so that – as reported by The Guardian – Holm legally changed his name to include Thiago.
The Norwegian talent is maybe a little quicker in transition than Thiago but you can see aspects of his game in the Celtic target.
The Bhoys don’t yet have a manager having lost Ange Postecoglou last week, but could still press ahead with a deal for young midfielder Holm.
