According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic have failed with a bid to sign Lokomotiva playmaker Luka Ivanusec, as he’s joining Dinamo Zagreb instead.

The Bhoys are in the market for new additions having crashed out of the Champions League qualifiers, and Neil Lennon is running out of time to bolster his squad.

Despite the performances of Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie, another midfielder appears to be on the Celtic radar, but they’re just missed out on one.

It’s claimed that Celtic offered a package of £4.5million for Lokomotiva midfielder Ivanusec, which was more than Olympiakos were offering, putting the Bhoys in the box seat for his signature.

However, Dinamo Zagreb were able to swoop in at the last minute and raid their local rivals for his signature, seemingly willing to pay more cash up front.

Ivanusec, 20, has already hit one goal and two assists in three games this season, having notched six goals and five assists last season as he continued his development with regular football in Croatia.

A versatile midfielder who can play as a number 10, holding midfielder or even out wide, Ivanusec could have been an adaptable player for Lennon, and one for the future.

However, Celtic have missed out, adding more transfer window frustration for the Bhoys, and they must now look for another target before the deadline.
