Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic has sustained a broken hand, reports The Guardian.

Rogic is on international duty with Australia at the Asian Cup.

The Celtic midfielder featured in the opening game, having arrived at the tournament with a knee injury.

Rogic’s Australia lost 1-0 to Jordan on Sunday and Rogic was singled out for criticism by Socceroos’ supporters.

The Guardian report speculates that Rogic could still continue to play, but he will need clearance from the Australian team’s medical staff.

Rogic, 26, could redeem himself in the eyes of fans by playing through the pain with a supportive cast.

Celtic fans on the other hand will not be so keen for Rogic to risk further damage.

The midfielder is key to their title challenge and it is bad enough he has already missed time out of their season.

Now he could end up missing further time if he further damages his hand.
