Celtic midfielder Gary Mackay-Steven looks set to spend the season at the Hoops’ Scottish Premiership rivals Aberdeen.
According to a report from The Scottish Sun, Aberdeen look set to win the race for Celtic midfielder Gary Mackay-Steven, with a season-long loan deal set to be agreed.
Mackay-Steven has struggled to break into the Bhoys side since Brendan Rodgers arrived at Parkhead last summer with the Hoops’ midfield proving especially influential during their treble-winning campaign.

The Scottish Sun reports that Sheffield United and Aberdeen have both been interested in a temporary deal for the 26-year-old – and it appears that it is the latter that are closing in on winning the race.
According to The Scottish Sun, talks have been ongoing over the last few days, and the Dons now hope that they are set to bring another Celtic player in on loan, with Ryan Christie returning to Pittodrie as part of the deal that saw Jonny Hayes join the Scottish Premiership champions.
With Christie shining during his loan spell, Mackay-Steven will be hoping, if the deal does take place, that he can do the same and send a positive message to Rodgers, especially if another player arrives during this window to potentially push him even further out of the manager’s current plans.
But at the moment, it is surely fair to say that with his struggles in recent times coupled with the level of competition for a place in the side, he faces an uphill battle trying to fight his way back into the fold with the Hoops.
