According to The Chronicle, Eddie Howe would be interested in becoming the next Newcastle United boss.
It’s claimed that Howe’s ‘allies’ have indicated that he would be open to making the move to St James’ Park in the near future.
Howe is ‘looking for the right fit’ after almost a year out of the game, having left Bournemouth at the end of last season following their relegation.
For now though, Mike Ashley retains faith in Steve Bruce, so Newcastle aren’t expecting to make a change any time soon.
Howe fancying a move up north again is a surprise though; he has spent most of his managerial career at Bournemouth, and his spell with Burnley was a little mixed.
In fact, Howe left Burnley in the Championship to return to Bournemouth when they were in League One, such was his desire to get back down to the South Coast.
Howe, 43, won 40% of his 356 games in charge of Bournemouth, playing an attractive brand of attacking football whilst being a little open at the back.
That’s in stark contrast to the current setup at Newcastle, but with Bruce’s approach clearly not working right now, Howe – who has previously got the best out of current Magpies Matt Ritchie and Callum Wilson – could be seen as an exciting change.
Celtic want him too according to The Sun though, and with Ashley unwilling to part ways with Bruce despite torrid form and performances, the Magpies could end up missing out on Howe.
