Scottish champions Celtic have reportedly made a formal bid for young French centre-back, Jean-Kevin Duverne.

According to reports from French publication, L’Equipe, Celtic have made a £4.8million (€5.5million) bid ahead of other potential suitors.

The 19-year-old defender has progressed from Lens youth academy, and made his debut last season. He went on to make 37 appearances for the club during their Ligue 2 campaign.

His impressive form has attracted potential suitors, Celtic being one of them.

According to report from the Express, Celtic have a long standing interest in the player. The Bhoys have been tracking youngster since the January transfer window.

The report suggests that Celtic have made the first bid for the exciting young talent.

If the price quoted by L’Equipe is believed to be true, then it leads us to believe that Celtic are seriously interested in the player.

That the Bhoys have made the first move shows the club rates the player highly. The offer looks tempting, and should be enough to seal the deal for the youngster.

Meanwhile, Celtic have completed their first signing of the summer, securing the signature of Jonny Hayes, who made the switch from Aberdeen on a £1.3m deal.
