According to the Daily Record, Celtic are ramping up their interest in signing Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull by making contact with their Scottish Premiership rivals.

The Bhoys need a major rebuild this summer with a host of players set to leave, and with question marks over Olivier Ntcham’s future, a new midfielder should be on the radar.

The likes of Joe Aribo and Rekeem Harper have been linked with making the move to Glasgow, but Celtic may look a little closer to home for a midfield signing.

Motherwell ace Turnbull has emerged as a top target, and the Daily Record claim that the Bhoys are now ramping up their interest by making first contact with Motherwell about a deal.

It’s claimed that Celtic have registered their interest with Motherwell, and have asked to be kept informed about the midfielder’s future with English clubs interested and Motherwell resigning themselves to selling their prized asset.

Motherwell want at least £3million for Turnbull, and it’s believed that nine or ten clubs have officially contacted Motherwell about a potential move, with Celtic one of them.

Turnbull, 19, smashed 16 goals and seven assists for Motherwell this past season, and having missed out on John McGinn last summer, Celtic really can’t afford to let Turnbull slip through their grasp this summer.
