According to Read Celtic, Liverpool defender Ki-Jana Hoever has become a target for Celtic this summer.

It’s claimed that Celtic have now made a first approach to Liverpool in an attempt to get Hoever signed up.

Liverpool have yet to decide whether to let Hoever out on loan for the season, given that he is currently training with the Reds first team.

His versatility to play at right back and centre back could be important, and a decision will come after the Community Shield clash with Arsenal this weekend.

Celtic need defensive additions, especially after a 2-1 Champions League defeat at the hands of Hungarian side Ferencvaros.

Kristoffer Ajer could be on his way, whilst Jozo Simunovic needs to replaced having been released earlier this summer.

Hoever could fit the bill as a centre back more than as a right back, where Celtic already have Jeremie Frimpong and Hatem Abd Elhamed.

The Dutchman, 18, former of AZ Alkmaar and Ajax, is a real talent for the future, but whether a teenager can come in and help solve Celtic’s issues is another matter.
