Celtic have reportedly firmed up their interest in West Bromwich Albion winger Oliver Burke by making an enquiry.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Celtic have now confirmed their interest in West Brom winger Oliver Burke by making an enquiry over the youngster’s availability.

The Daily Record recently reported that the 21-year-old was a player that Brendan Rodgers had his eye on heading into the January transfer window as he looks to bolster his squad this month.

And the Mail is now suggesting that Celtic have made contact with the Baggies with an enquiry for their £15 million signing, who is set to be available to leave The Hawthorns during this window.

The report adds that negotiations are yet to properly begin, but it is an interesting sign that Celtic have now made contact with West Brom over a move for the wide-man.

Burke has not enjoyed the best year, and there are plenty of the Parkhead faithful who have little interest in a move for the former RB Leipzig ace, but perhaps Rodgers sees something in the attacker that gives him confidence.

He was certainly a prospect to look out for while he was coming through the ranks at Nottingham Forest, and boasted a peripheral role as Leipzig finished second in their first Bundesliga season.

And there have been one or two glimpses of his quality during the handful of opportunities that he has been given with West Brom. So perhaps Celtic feel that they could be the club to turn his career around after such an underwhelming period.
