Report: Celtic made £1m Jack Hendry bid last night; latest offer may be enough

Celtic have offered Dundee £1 million to sign defender Jack Hendry in the final hours of the January transfer window.

According to a report from the Daily Record, Celtic made their latest bid for Dundee defender Jack Hendry last night with the improved offer worth £1 million for the 22-year-old.

The Hoops have been tracking the centre-back for most of the window and the Record reports that the Scottish Premiership leaders had made an offer of £500,000 at the start of the month, which was obviously rejected.

Dundee have wanted £1.5 million for the youngster throughout the window, but, according to the Record, Celtic’s latest bid, which just creeps into seven figures, could be enough to get a deal done on deadline day.

With The Scottish Sun reporting at the start of the month that Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Southampton are all interested in Hendry, it would arguably be a coup for Celtic to not only land the defender, but to do it for less than his reported asking price.

If they do manage to bring Hendry in, it would surely be fair to suggest that the Bhoys have enjoyed a very decent end to the window indeed, having held onto all of their key players while adding one of Scotland’s brightest talents in Hendry and bringing in a player with as much potential as Charly Musonda on a long-term loan.

The Hoops’ 3-1 win over Hearts on Tuesday night has moved Rodgers’ men 14 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership, but that gap could be closed slightly should Aberdeen get anything from their trip to Ross County tonight.
