Celtic still have a chance of landing Charly Musonda on loan.

Celtic’s long-term interest in Belgian whizkid Charly Musonda could come to fruition in January with the youngster set to be made available for loan, according to The Telegraph.

It had appeared Musonda would stay put at Chelsea after he signed a new contract last month, and he netted in the Carabao Cup for the Blues earlier in the campaign.

But Chelsea have their sight set on another big money deal, this time for Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey.

Genk's Leon Bailey takes part in a training session in Genk on November 23, 2016, on the eve of the UEFA Europa League football match against Rapid Wien.

The Telegraph report that while their opening £22 million offer was turned down, the Blues are determined to sign the winger and once they land him, Musonda will be permitted to head out on loan.

Celtic are long-term admirers of Musonda, with The Daily Record reporting in July they wanted to sign him permanently.

His new contract puts this off the table for now, and a loan move would be best for all parties.

Musonda could replace Patrick Roberts for Celtic, who is out with injury for the next couple of months, and provide the Scottish side with a bit of extra flair.

First team football will be crucial for Musonda’s development, and a big second half of the season could even set him up for a surprise place in Belgium’s World Cup squad.
