Celtic have been left ‘gutted’ over the news that Ben Davies is set to join Liverpool, the Athletic report.
Celtic had looked to be closing in on a deal to take Davies to Parkhead, with Neil Lennon’s side viewing the Preston North End central defender as one of their top targets this month.
However, with Liverpool struggling for central defensive options, Jurgen Klopp’s side made a late move.
As soon as Davies heard of Liverpool’s interest he apparently only wanted to move to Anfield, with Celtic forced to miss out.
That has really disappointed Neil Lennon’s men, who have been dealt yet another piece of bad news, after what has been a highly disappointing campaign to date.
Celtic could have done with the boost of a new addition, especially after their defeat to St, Mirren at the weekend.

However, it seems that they will now miss out on the 25-year-old, leaving Lennon’s side with a problem.
Celtic have just a matter of hours to find a new central defender before the deadline closes now, and that could mean that they have to make it until the end of the season with their current options at the back.
