Earlier this year, meanwhile, ‘La Maquina’ – Spanish for ‘The Machine’ – as he has been nicknamed (El Diario) was part of the Ecuador side that won the 2019 South American U-20 Championship for the first time, beating the likes of Argentina and Colombia along the way (Football Scotland).
Indeed, Quintero has featured nine times for Ecuador U20s since making his debut last year against Venezuela and such is his talent that he has been linked not just with the Hoops but also two clubs in his homeland, El Nacional and Emelec.
